Dr. Alvia M. Shasteen, DMD,DABOMP, FAAOM
Dr. Shasteen is a native Tennessean and went to the University of Tennessee at Knoxville for her undergraduate degree. Desiring a change of scenery, she received her DMD from the University of New England in Portland, Maine. She practiced general dentistry for a year and a half and is grateful for the skills and perspective that she gained as a general dentist. In 2021, she decided to pursue oral pathology as a resident at the University of Pittsburg. After completion in 2024, she started teaching full-time at Lincoln Memorial University College of Dental Medicine. She teaches several courses and sees patients with pathological lesions in the dental clinic. Outside of her passion for oral health, Dr. Shasteen enjoys cheering on the Vols, keeping up with Formula One racing, and exploring new restaurants in Knoxville.
Dr. Andrew Cheung, DDS.
Dr. Andrew Cheung completed his undergraduate studies at Rice University in Houston, Texas, in 1997. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from The University of Michigan in 2001 and completed postdoctoral training in a hospital-based General Practice Residency in 2002, followed by an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency from The University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville in 2006. Dr. Cheung is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a Gratis Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, a guest lecturer for the University of Tennessee Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and University General Dentistry (General Practice Residency at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville), and Gratis Assistant Professor of Oral Health Sciences, Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He maintains a private practice with Oral Surgery Specialists of Tennessee and has specific interests in office-based dentoalveolar and implant surgery, navigation/guided surgery and associated emerging technology. Dr. Cheung and his surgical partners at OSST have been asked to co-author a few chapters in the Fonseca Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery textbook and have published articles in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
