Dental Hygienists will receive Basic Overview of Pharmacology to accompany the Limited Prescriptive Authority Certification course.
Objectives:
Define drugs used in dentistry and how those drugs may interact with a patient’s other medicines or medical conditions.
Review Drug Regulations
Review Drug Types and Names
Review pharmacology of drug actions, factors that alter drug effects and adverse drug reactions.
Be provided prescription writing, documentation protocols and database
Dental Hygienists will be able to prescribe fluoride agents, topical oral anesthetics and non-systemic oral antimicrobials to a patient under general supervision of a licensed dentist.
